Students from the Communication Program of UST Angelicum College won major awards at the Public Relations Society of the Philippines Grand Prix Competition held last November 29, 2019 at the De La Salle College of St. Benilde.
UST Angelicum College was hailed as the back-to-back champion in the Digital Video Category. Team Carpe Aurum's Speak Up bagged the Gold Anvil Award. Likewise, Team KNM's Speak Up and Reach Out won the Netizens' Choice Award. Two out of five finalists were from UST Angelicum along with entries from the College of the Holy Spirit - Manila, and the De La Salle University - Dasmariñas.
This year’s theme, “R U Ok? The Role of PR in Speaking the Truth about Mental Health”, focused on how depression and other mental health problems are affecting the youth.
Anvil is the symbol of Public Relations. It is awarded to outstanding public relations program, tools, and now practitioners, after careful screening by selected PR professionals and judging by a distinguished multi-sectoral jury.
In the pursuit of continuous school development to deal with the changes and challenges of 21st century education, the administrators of UST Angelicum College visited the Dominican International School (DIS) in Dazhi, Zhongshan District, Taipei City, Taiwan on July 4, 2019.
The delegates to the General Chapter of the Order of Preachers from different countries held their world conference in July in Bien Hoa in Vietnam, where the Dominican family has an important presence. After the Mass of the Holy Spirit on July 13, 2019, the plenary session elected the 87th successor of St. Dominic, and the 88th Master of the Order in the person of Rev. Fr. Gerard Francisco P. Timoner, O. P.
UST Angelicum welcomed the new academic year 2019-2020 with the Mass of the Holy Spirit which was held on August 7, 2019. The Mass, which coincided with the celebration of the Feast of St. Dominic de Guzman, founder of the Order of Preachers, was presided by the Pro-Vice-Rector of the school, Rev. Fr. Ferdinand L. Bautista, O. P. and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Noel Castor, O. P., the school’s Director for Financial Affairs, Rev. Fr. Rudolf Seño, O.P. and the new Chaplain of the Basic Education Department, Rev. Fr. Arden Dacuma, O. P. Rev. Reynor Munsayac also joined during the celebration.
Despite the rainy weather last weekend, the BEC Youth Volunteers were all excited to attend the Team Building and Planning Session organized by the Office of the Religious Affairs last September 14, 2019 with the theme, ‘ Using One’s Gifts in Serving Others’ (1 Peter 4:10).
UST Angelicum bagged eight awards at the Philippine Student Quill Awards, including the Top Award for Communication Skills.
