Dominican Studentate Pastoral Board's Pastoral Exposure Enrichment Program

The Dominican Studentate Pastoral Board's Pastoral Exposure Enrichment Program FY 2022-2023 commenced with an orientation held at UST Angelicum College and attended by 18 Dominican student-brothers. The program is an integral part of the latter's pastoral formation to prepare them for their future ministries.

UST Angelicum's Director for Academic Affairs, Dean Eunice Mareth Areola, Ph.D., HSG, and SHS Principal, Dr. Maria Urduja Galang, shared the College's strategic direction and the unique Angelicum system, respectively.

As UST Angelicum College commemorates its 50th founding anniversary this year, the educational institution is holding its "1st International Media Congress," on April 1, 2023, Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the UST Angelicum College campus.

Themed "MEDIA and the World," the blended event, which will also stream via Zoom, aims to elevate the discussion on the roles of communication in connecting the world, converse about the changing landscape of delivering and receiving information brought about by convergence, as well as venture into how the media conserves, preserves, and promotes Filipino identity, pride, and culture.

Industry leaders set to share their knowledge and expertise at the International Media Congress are former vice-president of the Philippines and founder of Angat Buhay Foundation, Hon. Leni Robredo; associate dean of education at the school of arts at Sunway University – Malaysia, Bradley C. Freeman, Ph.D.; associate professor at Chulalongkorn University – Thailand, Smith Boonchutima, Ph.D.; director of content at the Blossom at First Media US, Erika Faith Alcaraz; advertising and film director, Johann Alcantara; deputy executive creative director at MullenLowe TREYNA, Roman Carlo Olivarez; head of TV production and Star Magic at ABS-CBN Broadcasting Network, Laurenti M. Dyogi; and veteran broadcaster and former commissioner of the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), Chino Trinidad.

"Media converges a diverse society. There are two parallel worlds today—online and the offline. The internet challenges the borders of society. The more we connect, the closer we become, and overcome them [borders]. Thus, we can say that every victory is not the end but the beginning of more challenging realities ahead," said Dr. Glenn Irwin Reynon, chairperson of the UST Angelicum International Media Congress.

As UST Angelicum College continues to garner national recognition, from the Catholic Mass Media Awards to the Philippine Student Quill Awards, for its relevant and profound documentation of various societal concerns through the interplay of words and human experiences, the BA Communication Program is committed to enabling its students to gain a clearer understanding of the truthful and ethical significance of, as well as the responsibility involved in the use of, various channels of communication to provide excellent and diverse learning avenues. #USTAngelicum #DreamBeyond
